Screw Your Asterik

Screw Your Asterisk By Carson Hull In a season that came just 72 days after the NBA Bubble ended with LeBron and Anthony Davis defeating the Miami Heat in 6 games, the storyline all season has been injuries. The stars that run and carry our league all faced at least some injury issue with most missing a decent chunk of time. That problem became even worse when it lingered into the playoffs. AD groin injury in Game 4 of the first round. LeBron’s high ankle sprain. Harden’s hamstring in the first few seconds of the second round. Kyrie’s twisted ankle. Trae Young’s twisted ankle. Giannis and Joel having knee issues (and still out there balling). Donovan Mitchell missing the opening game of the playoffs and then getting injured again at the end of the Clippers series. Kawhi’s torn ACL game 4 of the second round. And those are just the stars. Injuries are always transforming playoff series. It just so happens that the injuries occurring during these playoffs are coming at th

NBA Free Agnecy Predictions

Predicting Where NBA Free Agents Land This Summer by Liam Willerup     With the draft tomorrow and all the anticipation around that, there's also the looming free agency where the leagues biggest names will be signing new deals in one spot or another. With names like DeMar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry, Kawhi Leonard, and Lonzo Ball all in the mix, guys like these can make huge impacts on the league landscape with their free agency decisions. So, here are my predictions for all of these players. Kawhi Leonard, Dallas Mavericks     It truly does make sense with the fit that Kawhi would want to go to Dallas. A smaller market which fits well for a player who has seen his greatest success in markets like San Antonio and Toronto. With Dallas having the cap space to do so, a duo of Luka and Kawhi will be a force to be reckoned with in the West. Luka has offensive capabilities unlike anyone in the league, and Kawhi has one of the best two way games in the league's history. This duo would be so

CFB Players Destined for Breakout Seasons

CFB Players Destined for Breakout Seasons By Liam Willerup      Every year in College Football, players seem to defy expectations and turn into stars before our eyes. Alabama's Mac Jones was far from being viewed as a 1st round talent before last season. Same goes for players like Jaelan Phillips, Zach Wilson, and Kyle Pitts. Looking into the next college football season, there seems to be a plethora of candidates to have a breakout season and propel their draft stock. Emory Jones, QB Florida        With the departure of Kyle Trask, Kyle Pitts, and Kadarius Toney, many will be quick to write off those Gators in Gainesville. However, there is plenty of hope in the college football community that the next in line for QB will be perhaps more impressive than Heisman finalist Kyle Trask. The #5 Dual Threat QB in the 2018 Recruiting Class behind talents like Justin Fields and Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Emory Jones might be the truth. On paper the Florida receiving core doesn't jump

The Rise of Donovan Mitchell and How Good is He?

By Liam Willerup           Heading into the 2017 NBA Draft, Donovan Mitchell was a much overlooked recruit. In terms of shooting guards in that class, he wasn't even ranked the highest (that honor going to Kentucky guard Malik Monk). However as the story goes, a phenomenal workout with the Utah Jazz was enough for them to make a move up to Pick #13 to select the guard out of Louisville. Today, Donovan Mitchell is easily one of the best shooting guards in the game. Probably only ranking behind players like Harden, Beal, and Booker (due to his Finals berth). The biggest news about him in recent weeks has been Stephen A. Smith's take that he is already the best player in Utah Jazz franchise history. While that is disrespectful to players like John Stockton and Karl Malone, Mitchell is not a stretch to have his name in that discussion down the line. A player who has averaged 20 PPG every season of his career so far, Mitchell has plenty of upside as a player. He still needs to polis
